Passing around free LSD isn't a schtick? Yes, I know that the actual acid tests were a tiny minority of the shows, but let's be honest here.

Also, Jerry might have been pretty chill onstage, but what about Bob? That guy was full of schtick. Or the visuals they'd project at some shows? Bill Graham floating in in NYE?

The schitck for the dead was a 3+ hour show with a fair amount of improv and experimentation. Much later on the schitck included the "scene", parking lot, dope, etc.

The schitck is what you expect - with Bruce & E Street Band one expects a 3+ hour high energy show.

I think Bob as Cheese Shtick was more of a product of the '80s. It evolved in tandem to the solidifying of Jerry's stage persona as a Pet Rock. Someone could write a thesis on this.
